  • Denver Chapter Announces New Officers

    The INBLF chapter in Denver has selected new officers. Emily Curray, partner in the immigration law firm Stern Elkind Curray & Alterman, LLP, recently has been named president of the Denver chapter. Diane King, partner at the employment law firm King & Greisen LLP, will serve as vice president. Among their many responsibilities, Curray and King will supervise and coordinate preparations for the INBLFs annual black-tie weekend conclave, which this year will be held at Colorados famed Broadmoor Resort on October 23-25, 2009.

  • Bondurant, Mixson & Elmore $281 million jury verdict against Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.

     

    The INBLF would like to congratulate Atlanta Chapter President Mickey Mixson and his firm, Bondurant, Mixson & Elmore, LLP (BME), for their recent $281 million jury verdict against Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. The award is one of the largest compensatory damage awards in Georgia's history.     Lawyers for Humanity Library and Computer Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to Take Place this April at the Lar Emiliano Lopes Orphanage in Southern Brazil.

    INBLF President, Steven Spielvogel, is pleased to announce that the Lawyers for Humanity Library and Computer Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will take place this April at the Lar Emiliano Lopes orphanage in Southern Brazil.

    "The Lawyers for Humanity Charitable Foundation," is a 501(c)(3) public charity founded by INBLF Member Gallion & Spielvogel, whose mission is to help impoverished children, especially orphans, worldwide. Thus far, Lawyers for Humanity has, among other things, built a pre-school for children orphaned by the tsunami in Asia, bought warm clothing and school supplies for children in South America, raised funds to build small library facilities in several poor communities in Asia (communities that in many cases do not even have running water or electricity) and has contributed generously to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.   • INBLF Member Andrew Lustigman to Chair ABA Section

    Andrew Lustigman, partner in The Lustigman Firm, P.C., of the INBLF's New York Chapter, has been asked to chair the American Bar Association's Section of Intellectual Property Law: Committee 463 - Special Committee on Promotion and Marketing Law. The scope of the ABA Special Committee on Promotion and Marketing Law is to monitor, consider, report on and make recommendations concerning all issues relating to promotions and marketing law. Among his many other accomplishments, Andrew also is the most recent past president of the INBLF's New York City Chapter.

    INBLF Iowa Chapter member Lamarca & Landry, P.C., proudly has announced the establishment of a health law scholarship at Drake University Law School. LaMarca & Landry funded the new scholarship program with an initial endowment pledge of $150,000 in December 2008, to provide annual scholarship assistance for worthy students who are interested in pursuing careers in the field of health law.

    The scholarship is designed to complement the Drake Law School Health Law and Policy Center, which was established to serve as a resource to the general community on current issues of health law and policy, such as matters of public health, health care and its delivery.
