BioRobert Gottlieb has been practicing criminal law for nearly thirty five years. He received a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University in 1972 and a Juris Doctor from New York University Law School in 1975. He served as an assistant district attorney in Manhattan under the legendary Robert Morgenthau from 1975 through 1979 and in 1983 established his own law firm concentrating exclusively on state and federal criminal law. Mr. Gottlieb has defended many individuals in highly publicized cases throughout the country and has represented countless individuals charged with serious criminal offenses including securities fraud, money laundering, murder and other serious crimes. Mr. Gottlieb ran for Suffolk County, New York district attorney in 1989. He is a frequent lecturer on criminal law issues for state and national bar associations. In 2008, Mr. Gottlieb was appointed to the New York State Bar Association's Task Force on Wrongful Convictions to investigate the causes of wrongful convictions and to recommend changes in the criminal justice system to prevent such convictions from occurring in the future. Mr. Gottlieb has also served as an adjunct professor in Trial Practice at Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in Huntington, New York and has been on the faculty for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. He was selected for membership in the International Network of Boutique Law Firms (INBLF), an international organization of preeminent international lawyers. Mr. Gottlieb is a member of the New York State and National Associations of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Federal Bar Council and the New York State Bar Association. He is a member of the bar of New York State and is admitted to practice in the federal courts of the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York, United States Court of Appeals for Federal Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Gottlieb has a reputation as an attorney who embraces trial work and vigorously defends the rights of his clients. Mr. Gottlieb has held United States Department of Justice Top Secret Security Clearance. Mr. Gottlieb is a member of the Board of Directors of Argus, a New York based drug rehabilitation care center. He is an expert in criminal law, who is often sought after by the media. He has appeared on the CBS Morning News, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox News and CourtTV as an expert in criminal law.
