Jeannette Maurer Carmadella specializes in trademark and copyright law, with particular emphasis on brand protection and enforcement. Jeannette provides strategic counseling at all stages of brand development – from name selection to registration, use and enforcement – with the goal of helping clients grow and protect their valuable brands. She also manages and develops client trademark and copyright portfolios in the U.S. and internationally and litigates copyright and trademark matters in federal court and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). In addition, Jeannette has extensive experience with copyright registration and enforcement, licensing, domain name disputes, Internet and social media issues, false and misleading advertising and rights of publicity and privacy.

Jeannette has served as an Adjunct Professor at American University where she has taught Communications and Media Law at the undergraduate level. Jeannette also participates in the firm’s membership in International Trademark Association(INTA). Jeannette also enjoys her work as a guest lecturer on trademark, copyright, and media law and has served as a pro bono legal advisor to numerous creative artists.

Prior to joining Lutzker & Lutzker in 2006, Jeannette graduated from American University Washington College of Law, where she was an Editor of the International Law Review. While in law school, Jeannette gained invaluable experience working as a legal intern at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. She was also a summer associate at a boutique litigation firm in Bethesda, MD. Prior to law school, Jeannette worked as a legal assistant in Arent Fox, LLP’s trademark practice group and worked with the Parkinson’s Action Network (now part of the Michael J. Fox Foundation).
